The Imperial of luxury
cars In 1970, there were many buyers
who wanted more car and paid for the
pleasure of an Imperial. Every
Imperial Chrysler built had 15 miles
put on it before it ever got delivered.
They inspected over two hundred items
on each Imperial before they even
delivered a single one to the Dealer.
The 440 4V Engine was balanced
to make sure no unwanted vibration
ever interrupted your Imperial
Ride.
The Imperial name appeared very
early in the Chrysler line up. For many years,
Chrysler Imperials were a distinct
entity, with separate bodies and styling
from all other models Chrysler
offered.
The new for 1969 "fuselage"
shaped Imperial provided tremendous
comfort and superior highway manners.
They looked big, and they
were! The hood and rear deck sheet
metal seemed to extend forever.
This Imperial LeBaron four-door
finished in a rich Burgundy with a black padded
vinyl top. The Burgundy interior
offered a standard 50/50 divided bench seat,
featuring two individually adjustable
armchairs, with the passenger side reclinable
up to 22 degrees. The seats also
featured the optional six-way power driver seat,
tilt-a-scope steering wheel that
tilted up out of the way for getting in and out,
Pillow head rest for the back seat
passengers, signal seeking radio,
Chrysler "Airtemp" air conditioning
with climate control, power windows and
power vent windows.
The 1970 Imperial LeBaron stretched
to an amazing 230 inches, with a
127 inch wheelbase -- the rear
overhang was enormous. The car was
79 inches wide. and weighed in
at 4800 Lbs.
